Xmas Bell sq tissue box cover.

Hope you are going to enjoy making this. This is just to say thank you for your kind support the last year.

This is a quilting in the hoop project. You need 4 side panels and 1 top panel per tissue box cover.

I have used only two thread colors in the whole project, allthough your thread chart will have more colors in it, it has been placed there for your machine to stop to enable you to do certain things.

I have used Marathon thread color 1267 as my background stitching and satin stitch stitching and marathon metallic gold number 3005 for the bells.

In this set we make use of the quilting in the hoop technique.
Hoop your water soluble vilene, two layers cross hatched, and stitch color 1 straight onto the water soluble vilene. The first three colors, allthough the design specifies diferent colors, could all be the same color that will eventually also be the last color in which you are going to do your satin stitches in. Different colors were allocated so that the machine can stop so that we can complete certain steps.

Color 1 is a placement line so that you know where to place your compressed batting. Here I used 1267
Float compressed batting on top of this line and stitch it down with the next color.
Remove hoop from machine but not the design out of the hoop. Cut away excess batting as close as possible to the stitching line. Even if you nip some of the stitches it does not matter.
Place hoop back on the machine.
Float fabric over the batting and stitch down with next color, again color 1267.

Now for the rest of the design. I used marathon thread color 1267 for the stippling and metallic gold number 3005 for the bells as a thread of choise. You can of course use any color that will match your decor or personal taste.

After you have stitched the bells, float your lining fabric, right side facing down, under the hoop. Make sure you cover the whole design.
Stitch down with the next color - here I again used 1267.
Remove hoop from machine, but not design from the hoop, and cut away excess fabric from the top as well as the lining.
Put hoop back on machine, and stitch final color which in this instanse is again color 1267. Here I have also changed my bobbin to match my top thread.

When done, remove hoop from machine and cut design carefully from stabilizer.

You need a total of 4 side panels.

Top Panel

The procedure is the same as for the side panels, except that when you cut away excess batting or fabric from the sides, you must also cut away excess batting and fabric in the centre where the hole will be where the tissues will come out.

Assembly

To sew your panels together you need to do the following.
Set your sewing machine on zig-zag. Stitch lenght on 1 and stitch width on 3.5. Butt join the side panels to the top panel and zig-zag all around. Change your machine settings still on zig-zag but stitch lenght on .50 and stitch width to 5 or 6. Stitch on top of the previous zig-zag line to give it a professional finish.
The sides unfortunately needs to be done by hand. Thread a needle with the same color thread that you did your satin stitches in around your panels. Pull the sides together and on the right side slips stitch your corners together starting from the bottom, keep these panels also butt joined.
